Nestled close to the stunning Mt Egmont/Taranaki, the fertile plains surrounding the area provide a wealth of raw materials and inspiration for many of the designs. Woodturning developed as a hobby during a 30 year teaching career.After being asked to produce lace bobbins for a lace teacher Barry began designing and developing his own styles from the local New Zealand timbers and beef bone. Now Maire Studio concentrates on high quality hand crafted bobbins and individual designs.
